Day 2: Right down the middle
Driving, driving and more driving. We started our drive at 8am to leave Illinois behind and travel most of the day through Missouri.
The second day is usually the long and tiring day. Since we go through the countryside and you don’t see much past highway driving until you get to cities. Usually we pass through Memphis Tennesse but this year we went around it to avoid the big city. Tennesse never disapoints me. Every time we’ve been in TN we get to experience something new. Last year we were getting gas in Chattanooga TN I am positive we were at a gass station that was a drug front. While the 10 mins we were there about 7 nice sports cars, this was a super small dingy gas station on the outside of town, young men came, never pumped gas and came out caring small black bags. They had never left the register. So what can top that? We stopped at another small dumpy gas station and a white van pulled into the next spot and as Avery got out of the car the man driving the white van asked if he would like to buy some meat. Steaks to be exact. Avery politely said no and went on his way. The man did get people to buy his meat out of his van while we were there. What will our next drive through this wierd state bring us?
So about 20mins, after our gas station experience I asked Avery to look at hotels in Mississippi for us to stay at. So he was looking down when I spotted a great statue aong the road. Avery was annoyed I didn’t tell him so he could see it too.
So a few minutes later I wasn’t going to make the same mistake so I mentioned there was an eagle flying overhead. Avery answered; “I’ve seen a eagle before, but you know what I haven’t see? A life size Big Foot statue”.
Avery loves his monster hunting shows on the travel channel.
We never stoped to eat since we got eggs at breakfast and ate leftovers from yesterday so stoping to eat a warm meal was quite the treat for supper.
